If we ignore these signals, we jeopardize sterility assurance and risk the release of contaminated products. From a regulatory and business perspective, a lost "State of Control" is catastrophic. It necessitates a retrospective evaluation of every batch produced during the period of instability. This results in massive financial burdens, potential product recalls, and severe regulatory scrutiny. To prevent this, we must master the terminology and procedural rigor required to keep our facility compliant.
3. KEY TERMS & DEFINITIONS
A shared technical vocabulary is mandatory to prevent communication breakdowns that lead to "Out of Specification" (OOS) events. The following terms are the baseline for all Zentrum24 trending activities:
- Suspect Trend: Occurs when data points frequently exceed or increase toward the monitoring levels, or when a significant increase over the data normally observed is recorded.
- State of Control: A condition in which the set of controls consistently provides assurance of high-quality environmental conditions with limited changes to contamination recovery rate or product quality.
- Contamination Recovery Rate (CRR): The rate at which environmental samples are found to contain any level of contamination (e.g., an incident rate of 1% means 1% of samples had any growth, regardless of colony count).
- Out of Level (OOL): A result that exceeds established alert or action levels as identified in the monitoring summary.
- Out of Specification (OOS): Specifically identifies "Action level" results that require a formal, documented investigation.
- Microbiological Investigation Report (MIR): The formal documentation and identifying number assigned to the investigation of an Action level (OOS) result.
